Home Office Electrics

For a lot of people, working from home has now become the norm and with many people resisting a return to the office, it seems like it may be here to stay. If you are lucky enough to have a dedicated workspace at home, here are a few electrical factors to consider in order to optimise your home office to maximise convenience and productivity.

Extra Sockets

When it comes to a home office it seems you can never have too many sockets, by the time you have plugged in your screens, computer, phone and printer you will likely find yourself using an extension to power everything. Whilst this will work in a pinch, extension leads are not designed for permanent use. Having additional power points installed is a far better long-term solution and reduces the risk of overloading your sockets.

Ethernet Points

Just about everyone has experienced the annoyance of a weak or unreliable Wi-Fi signal. Ethernet points installed in the right locations can remedy this issue, giving you a hard-wired connection, resulting in faster speeds and improved stability.

Lights

Although lighting is a subjective matter that allows you to put your personal touch on a room, there are a few general guidelines to follow when it comes to office lighting. As a rule, you should use a cool white light as it aids in concentration and productivity. Warmer lighting tends to be a bit too relaxed and anything cooler can be too harsh. We advise going with LED bulbs as they generate less heat, use less energy and last longer. Smart bulbs are also an option, these allow you to dial in the exact light you want by adjusting the light colour and output.
