In order to meet carbon emission targets, the government are stopping housing developers installing gas heating systems in all new build properties from 2025. There is also talk of phasing gas out from existing properties from 2030.
In the past having electric heating has been seen as a poor choice compared to gas due to its price per KWH being higher. Lately, there has been a quiet revolution in the quality of electric heaters and in particular their controls. Couple that with the availability of electricity from clean, renewable sources and at last electric heating can be seen as a decent alternative to gas.
If you are changing from gas to electricity, then a question that will crop up is where will you get hot water from. The usual solution is an unvented cylinder heated with electricity. These heat and store hot water economically giving you an ample supply of hot water at mains pressure. We offer the installation of this as a service and can also offer a service for the removal of your gas system.
Let’s get one thing straight gas is cheaper than electricity per KWH. BUT when you take into account that electric radiator systems are maintenance-free, very easy to control and don’t have pipes so don’t suffer from heat loss.
You may already have electric heating in the form of storage heaters, panel heaters or an underfloor system. This makes upgrading to a new electric system simpler so the benefits of a modern electric radiator with easy to use controls within easy reach.
The cost to install an electric heating system will vary depending on the type of heaters and what system you have at present. That said expect it to be similar to a gas system. The type of electric heaters we offer aren’t cheap and please don’t confuse them with the type you can buy in B&Q for £100. We supply SUNFLOW heaters, they are extremely well engineered, come with a 15-year guarantee and a fantastic control system.
