If you’re a landlord, here’s something worth checking right now…
When was your last EICR done?
With the electrical safety legislation introduced in 2020, many landlords are now approaching the point where their properties need to be retested—and some may already be overdue.
A Quick Reminder – What Changed in 2020?
In June 2020, the UK introduced new regulations requiring landlords to have a valid Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), with inspections carried out at least every 5 years.
Why This Matters Right Now
A lot of landlords got their EICRs done around 2020–2021 to meet the new rules.
That means those certificates are now expiring or already expired, and you could be non-compliant without realising it.
How Do You Know If You’re Due a Retest?
- Was your last EICR done in 2021?
- Have you had a change of tenancy since then?
- Do you know where your certificate is?
What Happens During a Retest?
An EICR retest is a full inspection of your property’s electrical system to ensure everything is safe and compliant.
Don’t Leave It Too Late
Getting ahead of your EICR retest helps you stay compliant, keep tenants safe, and avoid last-minute stress.
